A WhatsApp AI agent answers your Egyptian customers at any hour in Egyptian Arabic, Franco-Arabic and English, understands voice notes and hands chats to your team when a person is needed. At Q Studio, packages start at about EGP 19,500 ($390) for a button bot and about EGP 29,500 ($590) for an AI assistant, including setup, the first year and a chat bundle. The Book package adds appointments, order confirmation and payment links through your own gateway; AI usage is paid directly to Google.
In Egypt, WhatsApp is where the sale actually happens. Customers ask the price, the size and the delivery fee there, send their address there, and follow up there when the courier is late. Many of them don't type at all; they send a one-minute voice note. When messages pile up, replies slow down, some customers drift away, and some orders get shipped on a misunderstanding and refused at the door.
Below: what an AI agent on your WhatsApp number can do, how it fits cash on delivery, what Egypt's data protection law means for it, what it costs in pounds, and when you don't need one.
What the agent does on your number
The agent runs on your official number through Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, not through a modified version of the app. Take an online clothing shop in Cairo:
- A customer sends a voice note in Ammiya asking whether the dress from yesterday's post is still available in L, and how much shipping to Mansoura costs.
- The agent understands it and replies with the Mansoura shipping fee from your rate table, and with the sizes in stock if it's connected to your inventory.
- It collects name, address and a backup mobile number in a form inside the chat, then shows an order summary and asks for an explicit "confirm".
- Your team receives a ready-to-ship order, and the customer can check the order status in the same chat.
If the customer asks something your information doesn't cover, or asks for a person, the chat moves to your team inbox.
Ammiya, Franco and voice notes
Egyptian customers write the way they talk, often in Franco-Arabic (Arabic typed in Latin letters and numbers), often mixed with English. Current AI models handle Egyptian Arabic well, but real quality only shows when you test with your own customers' messages.
So before launch we ask for a sample of the questions you actually receive, with personal details removed, run them through the agent and review the answers with you.
Voice notes are understood on every AI package (Reply and above). The Guide package is buttons and menus only, so it doesn't read free text or voice.
Cash on delivery, wallets, Fawry and InstaPay
Payments in Egypt are mixed, and the agent handles each method differently:
- Cash on delivery is still one of the most common ways to pay. Here the agent's most useful job is confirming the order before it ships: product, size, final price including delivery, address, and a clear yes from the customer, saved in the chat. A well-confirmed order leaves less room for a refusal at the door.
- Card and wallet payment links. On the Book package and above, the agent sends a payment link from your gateway, such as Paymob or another provider, accepting cards and mobile wallets depending on what the gateway has enabled for your business.
- Fawry. If your gateway supports Fawry reference codes, the agent sends the code so the customer can pay cash at an outlet.
- InstaPay. Transfers happen outside the chat and usually need a staff member to confirm receipt, so the agent collects the transfer details and passes the order to your team rather than marking it paid.
The agent never holds money. The gateway account is in your business's name and funds go straight to it. Our page on software development in Egypt covers payment options in more detail.
Working hours and Ramadan
Messages don't stop at closing time, and they shift completely in Ramadan. We configure:
- Team hand-off hours, and what the agent tells customers outside them.
- Weekly days off (Friday, and Saturday for many companies) and public holidays.
- Ramadan hours and seasonal offers, then the switch back after Eid.
Egypt's data protection law (Law No. 151 of 2020)
The executive regulations of Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law were issued as Ministerial Decree No. 816 of 2025 in November 2025, with a one-year grace period. On a strict reading it ends around the start of November 2026; because the regulations were only published in late December 2025, some advisers think it may in practice run to the end of 2026. Either way, compliance is due now or very soon. The regulations cover consent, electronic direct marketing, breach notification, transfers outside Egypt and licensing by the Personal Data Protection Center.
WhatsApp chats are full of personal data, so we build the agent around practical rules:
- Collect only what the order needs.
- Marketing messages only to people who agreed, with an easy way to stop them.
- A privacy notice link wherever data is collected.
- Document where data lives. Chats and customers belong to you; the AI processing runs on Google's servers, usually outside Egypt, and we document this for your lawyer.
- No training on your customers. We use the paid AI tier, so conversations aren't used to train AI products.
We build the technical side and don't give legal advice. Whether your business needs a licence from the center, and which one, is a question for your lawyer.
Packages and prices in EGP
We price in US dollars; pound amounts are approximate (at EGP 50 per dollar). Prices are per channel. Setup includes the build, launch, the first 12 months of running the agent and a chat bundle valid for 12 months.

Costs you pay to others
- AI usage is paid by you directly to Google from a prepaid balance on your own card, so every charge is visible to you. We choose the smallest model that answers well and estimate the cost from your volume.
- Meta fees apply mainly to messages your business starts with approved templates, such as shipping reminders or offers. Meta changes its WhatsApp pricing rules from time to time (including how replies are counted at high volume), so we include the current rules and rates with your quote. Rates depend on the message type and the recipient's country.
How chats are counted
One chat is one conversation up to a message limit (15 on Reply, up to 30 on Grow). You're alerted at 80%; at 100% the AI pauses and new messages go to the team inbox until you add a pack. Unused chats expire after 12 months. A second channel (website plus WhatsApp) gets 30% off its setup, and upgrading costs only the difference. More in what a WhatsApp chatbot costs.
Which package fits?
- A page or small shop with repeat questions about price and shipping: Guide, which is sometimes all you need.
- Lots of free-text questions and voice notes: Reply.
- A shop running click-to-WhatsApp ads: Sell, so leads reach your sales team qualified, with a brief.
- A clinic, service centre or shop that wants order confirmation and payment links in the chat: Book.
- A business with stock or an internal system to connect: Grow.
Still unsure? Try the project planner, or start small and upgrade later by paying the difference.
What you can try today
Our WhatsApp agent packages are new, and we won't claim a live client agent we haven't launched. What you can test now:
- The "Q" assistant on qstudio.site, a live AI assistant answering from Q Studio's own knowledge base in Arabic and English. Talk to it in Ammiya and try to trip it up.
- PharmaRiwaq and Dawawin HR, our own products built for the Egyptian market, which show how we design assistant experiences inside business systems: answers with sources, limited to each user's permissions. Their public demos run on fictional data.
Our understanding of cash on delivery isn't theoretical either: we built On Time Express, an operations system for an Egyptian courier company that handles shipments, cash collection and daily settlements. For how the assistant itself is built, see AI chatbot development; for the full overview, see our WhatsApp AI agent page.
When you don't need us
- Low volume. The free WhatsApp Business app with quick replies and a catalogue may be enough. Our packages are a real sum by Egyptian market standards, so don't pay before you need it.
- High-stakes decisions. We won't build an agent that gives medical, legal or financial advice or approves refunds on its own. It collects the details and hands over.
- Bulk messages to numbers that never opted in. That breaks WhatsApp's rules and can get your number blocked.
- Non-Sharia-compliant businesses, such as betting or interest-based lending.
FAQ
Can we keep our current WhatsApp number?
Usually yes, subject to Meta's steps such as verifying your business in your Meta account. We check your number's situation before starting, and the number and accounts stay in your name.
Does it understand Egyptian Arabic and Franco?
Yes, on the AI packages. We test it before launch on your customers' real messages, written and spoken, because the way people write varies from one business to another.
Will it reduce refused cash-on-delivery orders?
It confirms every detail, the final price and the address with the customer before shipping, and keeps that confirmation. That removes many of the misunderstandings behind refusals, but it won't stop them entirely, and we won't promise you a number.
Can it take wallet and Fawry payments?
On the Book package and above it sends a payment link or Fawry code from your gateway, depending on the methods enabled for your business. The money goes to your gateway account.
Do I pay in pounds or dollars?
We price in dollars; the pound figures here are approximate, and the available payment methods come with your written quote. AI usage is paid to Google directly on your card.
How do we start?
Send us your business type and the questions you get most on WhatsApp, or use the project planner. Within 24 hours you'll have a written scope and a fixed price, free.
