A WhatsApp AI agent answers customers on the official WhatsApp Business Platform (or your website) from your own information, qualifies leads and hands the chat to your team when needed. Q Studio offers five packages per channel, from a $390 button bot to a $2,190 action agent that books, follows up and connects to your systems; each setup includes the build, launch, the first 12 months and a starter chat bundle. AI usage is paid by you directly to Google, and WhatsApp message fees directly to Meta, so you see every charge.
Most businesses in the Gulf and Egypt already sell on WhatsApp. The problem isn't the channel, it's the volume: the same questions about prices, branches, delivery and opening hours, arriving at midnight and during Friday prayers, while a real buyer waits in the queue behind them.
An AI agent takes the first reply. It answers from your own facts, asks the questions your sales team would ask, and passes the conversation to a person with the details already collected. This page explains the types of agent, what works on WhatsApp versus a website, our five packages and prices, how billing works, and when you don't need an agent at all.
What an AI agent on WhatsApp or your website actually does
A good agent does four jobs, in this order:
- Answers common questions in Arabic and English, including dialect and voice notes, using only the information you gave it.
- Qualifies the person: what they want, their budget, their city, the product or service they're asking about.
- Acts where it's allowed to: books a slot, fills a form, checks an order status, sends a payment link.
- Hands over to your team when the question is outside its knowledge, when the customer asks for a person, or when the deal is ready to close.
It doesn't replace your team; it removes the repetitive part.
Five types of agent, from simplest to most capable
| Type | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Guided (button) bot | Menus and buttons, no AI. The customer taps through fixed paths | Routing, simple lead capture, businesses with a few clear options |
| AI assistant | Understands free text and voice notes, answers from a short set of your facts | FAQs, opening hours, prices, policies |
| AI with a knowledge library | Searches a larger library (catalogues, manuals, price lists) before answering | Many products or services, detailed questions |
| Hybrid | Buttons first for the common paths, AI for anything the customer types | Sales from ads, where speed and structure matter |
| Action agent | Also does things: bookings, in-chat forms, order status, payment links, follow-ups | Clinics, salons, services, stores with repeat orders |
The AI answers from your content, not from what a general model "knows". That approach is called retrieval-augmented generation, and we explain it on our AI chatbot development page. If you're unsure whether you need a chatbot or a true agent, read AI agent vs chatbot.
WhatsApp vs your website: what's different
The same agent can run on both, but WhatsApp has rules that shape the design:
- Buttons are limited. A WhatsApp message can carry up to 3 reply buttons, or a list of up to 10 rows. Long menus have to be split into steps. A website chat has no such limit and can show cards, forms and carousels freely.
- The 24-hour window. After a customer messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours. Outside that window, the business can only start a conversation with a template message that Meta has approved in advance.
- Business-initiated messages cost money. Offers, reminders and follow-ups sent with templates are charged by Meta per message, at rates that depend on the customer's country. Meta also updated its pricing in October 2026 to charge ordinary replies above a monthly free allowance; our WhatsApp chatbot cost guide explains the current model.
- Official access only. We connect through the official WhatsApp Business Platform with a verified number. Unofficial tools that automate the normal WhatsApp app put your number at risk of being banned.
A website agent is cheaper to run and easier to test; WhatsApp is where most customers in the region are. Adding the second channel costs 30% less than its setup.
Packages and prices
All prices are in USD, per channel (WhatsApp or website). The setup price includes the build, launch, the first 12 months of running the agent and a starter chat bundle valid for 12 months.
| Guide | Reply | Sell | Book | Grow | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Button bot, no AI | AI assistant | Hybrid sales agent | Action agent | Action agent with campaigns |
| Setup (includes year one) | $390 | $590 | $990 | $1,590 | $2,190 |
| Chats included | Unlimited | 1,200 | 1,500 | 2,000 | 3,000 |
| Yearly renewal | $190 | $300 | $400 | $590 | $870 |
| Extra chats | n/a | $5 per 100 | $11 per 100 | $19 per 100 | $33 per 100 |
| Messages per chat | n/a | up to 15 | up to 20 | up to 25 | up to 30 |
| Knowledge | Fixed menus | about 30 pages | about 100 pages | about 300 pages | about 1,000 pages |
What each one adds:
- Guide: button menus that qualify the visitor and send the lead to your team.
- Reply: answers typed questions and voice notes from your facts, with a team inbox and human takeover.
- Sell: buttons first and AI for anything typed, a knowledge library, lead qualification from ads, product cards, follow-ups, and a hand-off with the brief filled in.
- Book: everything in Sell, plus calendar bookings, forms inside the chat, order status and payment links.
- Grow: everything in Book, plus targeted offers, follow-ups for lost sales and connection to your own systems.
Upgrading later means paying the difference between the two setups. If you'd like a quick recommendation, the project planner turns a few choices into a brief.
How billing works, and why you pay Google and Meta directly
There are three separate costs, and we keep them separate on purpose:
- To Q Studio: the setup, the yearly renewal (hosting, monitoring, updates and support) and any extra chat packs.
- To Google, for AI usage: paid from a prepaid Google AI balance on your own card. Guide has no AI, so no AI cost.
- To Meta, for WhatsApp messages: charged to your WhatsApp Business account according to Meta's rate card for your customers' countries. Website agents have no Meta fees.
Why not one bundled bill? AI and messaging prices change, so bundling would mean padding our price or surprising you later. Paying the providers directly means you see every charge, own the accounts, and nobody marks up your usage.
Limits: what happens at 80% and 100%
A chat counts as one conversation up to the message limit of your package (15 messages on Reply, up to 30 on Grow). Longer conversations count as more than one chat.
- At 80% of your chats, you get an alert, so you can add a pack in time.
- At 100%, the AI pauses. New messages go to your team inbox, so no customer is left without a reply, until you add a pack.
- Unused chats expire 12 months after purchase.
This protects you from a surprise bill after a sudden spike.
What every setup includes
- Connection through the official WhatsApp Business Platform with a verified business number (or a chat widget on your website).
- A paid AI tier, so your customers' conversations are not used to train AI products.
- Arabic and English, including dialect and voice notes.
- A knowledge base written with you from your real prices, policies and common questions.
- 30 days of tuning after launch, based on real conversations.
- Training for your team on the inbox, takeover and updating the agent's knowledge.
- Your data stays yours: chats, contacts and leads belong to you.
Process and timeline
Most agents go live in 1 to 3 weeks: a button bot at the short end, an action agent connected to your calendar or systems at the long end.
- Free call: what customers ask, where they come from, what your team does today.
- Written scope and package: the flows, the knowledge, the hand-off rules.
- Build and test: we test with real questions in the way your customers write, including dialect.
- Launch: WhatsApp number verification, templates submitted for approval, or the website widget installed.
- Tuning: 30 days of reviewing conversations and fixing gaps.
What you can see working today
We haven't published a live WhatsApp agent for a client yet, so we won't pretend otherwise. What you can check:
- The "Q" assistant on this website, built by us, answers from our own knowledge base in Arabic and English. Ask it anything about our prices and try to catch it out.
- Assistant design inside business systems: PharmaRiwaq and Dawawin HR, our own products, show how we design assistant experiences inside business systems (answers with sources, limited to each user's permissions). Their public demos run on fictional data, not a live AI model.
- Rashid, an AI tutor we built (not published), which we can demo on request.
For AI beyond chat, such as automating office work or a private assistant for your staff, see AI workflow automation and AI knowledge assistants.
When a button bot or a human team is better
- You have a handful of fixed questions. Guide at $390 with unlimited chats and no AI costs is often enough.
- Your sales are high-value and personal, such as real estate or B2B deals. Let the agent collect the details, but keep people closing.
- You get a few dozen messages a week. A good quick-reply setup in the WhatsApp Business app and one attentive person may beat any bot.
- Your information isn't written down. An agent only knows what it's given. Write your prices and policies first.
When we're not a fit
- You want a bot to give medical, legal or financial decisions on its own, or to approve refunds without a person.
- You want unofficial WhatsApp automation or bulk messaging to people who didn't opt in.
- The business isn't Sharia-compliant (for example betting, alcohol, adult content, interest-based lending). We don't take that work.
Country details are covered on our pages for Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
FAQ
Will the agent use my normal WhatsApp number?
It runs on the official WhatsApp Business Platform with a verified number. You can use a new number or, in many cases, connect the number your customers already know. Each option has trade-offs for how your team uses the phone app, so we go through them on the first call before anything is moved.
How long until it's live?
Usually 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the package and on how quickly Meta verifies the business and approves message templates. Website agents are usually faster because there's no Meta approval step.
What happens if the AI gives a wrong answer?
It answers only from the knowledge you approved, and it's set to hand over when it isn't sure. During the 30 days of tuning we review conversations and fix gaps, and afterwards you can update the knowledge yourself.
How much will I pay Google and Meta each month?
It depends on your volume and how long the chats are. Our WhatsApp chatbot cost guide gives planning ranges for AI usage per 100 chats and explains how Meta's message fees work.
Can I start with the website and add WhatsApp later?
Yes. The second channel gets 30% off its setup, and the knowledge base you've already tuned carries over.
What happens after the first year?
You pay the yearly renewal for your package, which covers hosting, monitoring, updates and support, plus any chat packs your volume needs. If you stop, your chats, contacts and leads remain yours.
