The short answer

A WhatsApp AI agent answers your Saudi customers around the clock in Arabic dialect and English, understands voice notes and hands the chat to your team when a person is needed. At Q Studio, packages start at about SAR 1,460 ($390) for a button bot and about SAR 2,210 ($590) for an AI assistant, including setup, the first year and a chat bundle. The Book package adds appointments and mada or Apple Pay payment links through your own gateway; you pay AI usage directly to Google and WhatsApp message fees directly to Meta.

For many Saudi businesses, WhatsApp is the front desk. Customers ask prices there, book there, send their location there and complain there. The problem is timing: messages arrive late at night, over the Friday–Saturday weekend, during prayer times and after taraweeh in Ramadan, exactly when nobody is watching the phone.

This page covers what a WhatsApp AI agent actually does, the Saudi details it has to handle (dialect, voice notes, working rhythm, mada, the PDPL), what it costs in riyals, and when we are not the right choice.

What the agent does on your number

The agent runs on your official number through the WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta's API for businesses, not on a modified app or an unofficial tool. Picture a beauty salon in Jeddah:

  1. A customer sends a voice note: "Do you have a slot Thursday evening for hair and nails, and how much?"
  2. The agent transcribes and understands it, quotes the prices from the salon's own price list, and offers Thursday's open slots from the calendar.
  3. The customer picks 7 pm. The agent confirms the booking and, if the salon takes deposits, sends a payment link.
  4. The salon team sees a ready summary in the shared inbox: name, services, time, deposit status.

If the customer asks something the salon's information doesn't cover, or asks for a person, the chat moves to the team inbox and a staff member takes over. An agent that guesses is worse than no agent.

Dialect, English and voice notes

Saudi customers rarely write in formal Arabic. They write in Najdi, Hijazi or Southern dialect, switch to English mid-sentence, type Arabic in Latin letters, or skip typing entirely and record a voice note. A large share of residents are expatriates who write only in English.

So we test against how your customers really write. Before launch we ask for a sample of real questions, with personal details removed, and run them through the agent. Replies come back in the customer's language: English for English, clear Arabic close to the customer's own register for Arabic.

Voice notes are understood on every AI package (Reply and above). The Guide package is buttons and menus only, so it doesn't read free text or voice.

Working hours, prayer times, Ramadan and the weekend

The Saudi working rhythm is where an agent earns its cost.

  • Friday and Saturday. The agent keeps answering, taking requests and booking Sunday slots. Your team returns to summaries, not a backlog.
  • Prayer times and breaks. When nobody is available, the agent tells the customer a team member will continue shortly and collects the details meanwhile, instead of leaving the message unread.
  • Ramadan. Many businesses change hours and chats stretch past midnight. We set Ramadan hand-off hours, greetings and bookable slots, then switch back after Eid.
  • Seasons and offers. On the Grow package the agent can send targeted offers and follow up unfinished sales, only to customers who agreed to receive marketing.

We agree the rules with you in writing: what the agent handles alone, what goes straight to a person, and what it says outside working hours.

Most Saudi customers pay with mada and Apple Pay. On the Book package and above, the agent can send a payment link inside the chat for a deposit, booking or order, and check whether it was paid.

The agent never holds money. The link is created by your own payment gateway, under your business and commercial registration, and the funds go straight to your account. Most Saudi gateways offer payment links that accept mada, Apple Pay and cards; we connect the one you already use or help you choose. Our app development page for Saudi Arabia covers gateways in more depth.

The PDPL and WhatsApp marketing

Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law has been enforced by SDAIA since 14 September 2024, and it applies to anyone processing the personal data of people in the Kingdom. WhatsApp chats are full of personal data: names, numbers, locations, sometimes health or family details. We build the agent around a few practical rules:

  • Ask only for what the service needs. A salon booking needs a name and a time, not an ID number.
  • Marketing only with prior consent, plus an easy way to stop it. Replying to someone who messaged you is different from pushing an offer they never asked for.
  • A privacy notice link in the welcome message or wherever data is collected.
  • Know where data lives. Chats, contacts and leads belong to you. The AI processing runs on Google's servers, which may be outside the Kingdom, and we document this so your adviser can check the cross-border rules.
  • No training on your customers. We use the paid AI tier, so customer conversations are not used to train AI products.

We build the technical side; your legal obligations are a question for your lawyer or compliance adviser. Our PDPL guide for app owners goes further.

Packages and prices in SAR

We price in US dollars; riyal amounts are approximate. Prices are per channel (WhatsApp or website). Setup includes the build, launch, the first 12 months of running the agent and a chat bundle valid for 12 months.

Costs you pay to others

  • AI usage is paid by you directly to Google, from a prepaid balance on your own card, so you see every charge. We pick the smallest model that answers your content well and estimate the cost from your expected volume.
  • Meta fees apply mainly to messages your business starts with approved templates, such as reminders or offers. Meta changes its WhatsApp pricing rules from time to time (including how replies are counted at high volume). Rates vary by message type and the recipient's country, and we include the current rates with your quote.

How chats are counted

One chat is one conversation up to a message limit (15 messages on Reply, up to 30 on Grow). You get an alert at 80% of your chats; at 100% the AI pauses and new messages go to the team inbox until you add a pack. Unused chats expire after 12 months. A second channel (website plus WhatsApp) gets 30% off its setup, and upgrading means paying only the difference between setups. More detail in what a WhatsApp chatbot costs.

Which package fits?

  • A shop with a short list of repeat questions: Guide. Clear buttons for prices, branches and quotes may be all you need.
  • A clinic reception desk, salon or training centre with lots of free-text questions: Reply, with Book once you want the agent to take bookings itself.
  • A business running "message us on WhatsApp" ads: Sell, so leads arrive qualified with a brief.
  • Anything with appointments and deposits: Book.
  • A business with stock or an internal system to connect: Grow.

Not sure? Use the project planner, or start on a smaller package and upgrade later by paying the difference.

What we can show you today

Our WhatsApp agent packages are new, and we won't pretend to have a live Saudi client agent we haven't launched. What you can try now:

  • The "Q" assistant on qstudio.site, a live AI assistant that answers from our own knowledge base in Arabic and English. Ask it in dialect and try to trip it up.
  • PharmaRiwaq and Dawawin HR, our own products, which show how we design assistant experiences inside business systems: answers with sources, limited to each user's permissions. Their public demos run on fictional data.

The agent is built the same way as our AI chatbots: answers grounded in your content, tested on real questions before launch. For the full picture across countries and channels, see our WhatsApp AI agent page.

When we're not the right fit

  • Low message volume. If you get a handful of messages a day, the free WhatsApp Business app with quick replies and a catalogue may be enough.
  • High-stakes decisions. We won't build an agent that gives medical, legal or financial advice or approves refunds on its own. It collects details and hands over.
  • Bulk messaging to numbers that never opted in. That breaks WhatsApp's policies and the PDPL.
  • Projects that require a Saudi commercial registration or an in-Kingdom team, such as some government tenders. We work remotely from Egypt.
  • Non-Sharia-compliant businesses, such as betting or interest-based lending.

FAQ

Do I need a new WhatsApp number?

Not necessarily. An existing number can often be connected to the WhatsApp Business Platform, subject to Meta's steps such as business verification in your Meta account. We check your number's situation first, and the number and account stay in your name.

Will it understand Saudi dialect and voice notes?

Yes, on the AI packages (Reply and above). Before launch we test it with questions written and recorded the way your customers actually speak, including Arabic mixed with English.

What happens when the agent gets something wrong?

It answers only from the information you give us, and when it can't find an answer it hands over instead of guessing. If you spot an inaccurate reply, we correct the fact in its knowledge base and the answers change; updates are covered by the yearly renewal.

Can the agent take mada payments?

It sends a payment link from your own gateway that accepts mada, Apple Pay and cards, and the money goes straight to your gateway account. This is on the Book package and above.

Who owns the chats and customer data?

You do. Chats, contacts and leads belong to your business, and your customers' conversations are not used to train AI products.

How do we start?

Send us your business type and the questions you get most on WhatsApp, or use the project planner. Within 24 hours you get a written scope and a fixed price, free and with no obligation.
